Z''s very low-priced Legacy Journey CD releases are a steal of a deal. They come with a lot more than just great music. They many times have extended bonus tracks as well as booklets with numerous pages and really awesome CD artwork to name a few things. You can''t go wrong when you''re only paying somewhere around $3 to $6 for a brand new CD that has all these bonuses. I''m not a person who likes audio compression but getting the free MP3 download works great for me since I can transfer the CD to my phone and listen to it through earbuds or some message like that we''re high quality or high fidelity audio is not really that important. They haven''t made a phone yet that is a high-fidelity phones as far as I know. This is a great price on a great CD set with superb music! There''s no way you can go wrong with the price.

They just rehearsed like crazy, went in the studio (I think this one was recorded at the AutoMatt in SFO) and Mike Stone or Kevin Elson, etc. hit record. Freakin'' nuts. That''s why they were such a great live band. Imagine Sam Cooke in front of a rock band. That''s Journey. This mix is very dry for 1980. Tight band. Check out Line of Fire. It sounds like a hard boogie woogie version of "Frankie and Johnny" -cool stuff, brutal guitar solos throughout.

The album as a whole is good, with standouts "Anyway You Want It", "Walks Like A Lady", "Where Were You?", "Line Of Fire", "Departure" and "Good Morning, Girl". Make sure you get the 2006 remastered edition as it looks and sounds fabulous with nice liner notes and package artwork including the CD itself. Well Done! If you are a fan of Journey and or a fan since Steve Perry took over as lead vocals, you should have this CD in your music library.~
** 12 original songs and 2 bonus tracks:
13) Natural Thing
14) Little Girl
** "The 2 CD "Essentials" set has a live version of "Line of Fire" on it. I like them both!

I bought Six Journey CD''s and I like every one of them as I grew up listening to Rock in the 1970s.
This is real Rock Music and it won''t disappoint your ears or the mood you''re in, unlike that crap on those Worthless TV Music Shows with Wanna-Be Pop Stars.
I also bought Steve Perry''s Greatest Hits CD along with my journey order.
Journey a band that knows how to write quality songs &
keeps you Rocking N Rolling no matter the mood you''re in.
This CD Departure sounds amazing as do all the other remastered Journey CDs!
I received my Six CDs of Journey and the Steve Perry Greatest Hits CD in a cheap thin small bubble envelope.
Now the remaster sound is very good in my opinion on these Journey CDs.
I know some people in the comments section whined & got picky about it.
I like the remastered sound & it doesn''t sound cramped together to me.
My issues with the six Journey CD''s I received was all the cases were either cracked or smashed up
I was not happy to see that!
I''m going to now have to buy new clear cases no thanks to Amazon''s poor shipping skills for this multi-order.
HEY AMAZON HOW ABOUT A BETTER PACKAGE THAT PROTECTS THE MULTIPLE CDS NEXT TIME.
MAYBE STICK THEM IN A BOX WITH PADDING FOR LARGE CD ORDERS AND NOT A CHEAP THIN ENVELOPE!!!
I BOUGHT SEVEN CDS, I EXPECTED PERFECT-LOOKING CDS BUT GOT CRACKED ONES!
I do recommend buying this Journey Departure CD & the other JOURNEY CDs of the ''70s & ''80s in Remastered format.
Also, buy Journey CD "TRIAL BY FIRE" from 1996 as the whole album is solid all the way through.
Sincerely a fan of Journey.

My husband asked for the cd. It was just delivered in time to include with some Fathers Day gifts. I already know it’s great music. However the cd case is cracked in two places. It was delivered in the white plastic envelope with no other protection. I’m not going to take it out of the clear plastic. I will still include it in with other gifts for my husband and we will see if the cd itself was damaged. It was the only on left in stock so it cannot be replaced at this time. Low stars for packaging. Disappointed

Journey was hitting their stride as they were hitting the eighties with `Departure'' which was the follow up to their then commercial peak, `Evolution''. The new record was even more successful than its predecessor though I prefer the earlier LP. `Departure'' was aptly titled as it turned out for the band would go through a major lineup change with founding member Gregg Rolie leaving the band after the tour and Jonathan Cain being brought in. Rolie had seen his role in Journey become minimized no doubt due to the growing dominance of front man Steve Perry. "Any Way You Want It" became the big hit obviously and features all of the band''s strengths; harmonies, biting lead guitar from Neal Schon and the soaring vocal of Perry. My personal favorites are "Precious Time" which is a song that is never heard or talked about when one mentions this album and "Stay Awhile" which is very much a classic Journey ballad. "Walks Like a Lady" harkens back to the band''s progressive and jazzy past as do some of the other tracks but there was no denying that first and foremost Journey was an AOR band - built for the massive success that was to come. `Departure'' can be seen as a transitional album for this and many reasons. Standing in the line of fire it''s gonna shoot ya....

Critics Hated them but Fans loved them. During Journey''s Peak Years from 78-88 the band steadily built it''s audience through constant touring and Hit album after hit album. Departure a very good album in my opinion never really made it as a Mega seller, but it set the groundwork for Escape and Frontiers. Sound wise the album has a more live feel to it a little on the raw side, not bad mind you just different. The songs though to me just were not as good as previous or subsequent releases. Any Way You Want it Was the Big hit and Walks Like a Lady hit the Lower rungs of the Top 40. The album also contains several great radio tracks Including Someday Soon and People and Places. Also Check out the nice Trio of the Title Track, Good Morning Girl and Stay Awhile( again a lower top 40 entry). Despite all the Pluses to me the album Just doesn''t gel Together. Still good Journey is great music and the record is a must for anyone wanting all of the Group''s Classic Period.

Although maybe not their most widely known or remembered album, Departure is a real gem that in my mind ranks with their very best. From the blockbuster "Any Way You Want It," to the soulful "I''m Cryin''" and the little-known rocking masterpiece "Line of Fire," I can''t get enough of the dueling leads of the incomparable Steve Perry and the very talented Greg Rollie on what turned out to be his swan song. This album is solid through and through. And you can get it for a steal.
